SUPER IMPORTANT INFO:
Little League mandates that all players be placed in a division based on their AGE not their grade or skill level. If you do not know what division your player is in please check your registration confirmation email or log into your account on the website.
Most importantly, please remember that these are Player EVALUATIONS, this is not a tryout.
All players who registered for the Spring 2026 Baseball Season will make a team.
These evaluations help Coaches during the team drafts form more equal and fair teams within each division. There are no "cuts" and there is no "making or not making a team". There is no pressure during these evaluations or a benchmark that must be met. That being said, we do ask that players act responsibly, respectfully and appropriately.
*Please remind your player to support their friends, encourage each other, and introduce themselves to someone they don't know who may be on the field at the same time warming up or waiting in line.
*Please no siblings or unattended children at the field during evaluations.*
WHERE TO GO:
MP8:Rollingwood Hatley Field
MINORS 9: WAYA Joseph Field
MINORS 10 & 11: Downtown: Koceruk Field
MAJORS 12: Downtown: Bishop Field
WHAT TO BRING:
*New this season so please note:
Due to the new registration system and website, there is no need to bring a copy of your player's birth certificate to evaluations! Please make sure you upload any and all required documentation(s) to your players profile or email copies to [email protected] before arriving to evaluations.
Every player should bring their own:
BASEBALL GLOVE
BAT (if you have one)
*Bats must be USA stamped bat (not a USSSA bat).*
BATTING HELMET
WATER BOTTLE
Strongly suggested to wear:
Cleats
Baseball Pants(they will be sliding)
Baseball Hat
Dress in layers. Bring hand warmers and other cold-weather gear. Inevitably there is always some waiting/standing/sitting around so stay warm!
WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT EVALUATIONS TO LOOK LIKE?
Each field will have a central check-in area, please find it upon arrival. We must check your player in so that they can be loaded into the system as "arrived". This enters them into a "virtual que" and solidifies their place in line. If you do not check in upon arrival, you can not be evaluated. Your place in line is relative to when you check in, not when you arrive. Additionally, we will not tolerate players arriving and attempting to "cut" in line ahead of players who arrived before them.
After check-in, your player will then be directed to the field. They may put their stuff along the fence or in the dugout if there is room. We ask players to stretch, throw, catch and continue to get loose in open space if available. If there are cages at your field and you chose to use those with your player to warm up, please be considerate of the time spent taking up that space.
Please be listening for Coaches and Volunteers to call players by group onto the infield to begin the evaluation process. Please remind your player to be respectful of the Coaches and Parent Volunteers, and to encourage their fellow divisional Little Leaguers as their group goes through the evaluation process.
Once your player has completed all of the evaluation "stations", you and your player may leave.
HOW LONG WILL EVALUATIONS LAST?
Please anticipate spending at least 1 hour at evaluations if not longer. Once your player has checked-in, warmed up and completed each evaluation station, they may leave.
WHAT SKILLS WILL BE EVALUATED / HOW SHOULD WE PREPARE?
Coaches evaluate player ability in three different ares:
HITTING:
Players will get 4-5 pitches (thrown from a pitching machine or soft toss) They may be asked to bunt, and on the last pitch there is a timed run to second base and a slide.
FIELDING:
Players will receive three ground balls at an infield position and throw to first base. They will then field three fly balls in the outfield and throw the ball to second or third base.
PITCHING:
Players are required to throw 3-5 pitches off the pitching mound to evaluate pitching mechanics, velocity, and accuracy.
To best prepare for evaluations, have your players do baseball drills before elevations (hit, catch, field, throw).
Local baseball group 746 Baseball is also offering a Pre Evaluation Clinic, please see info below.
PRO-TIPS FOR EVALUATIONS
On the day of evaluations, warm-up at home (i.e. play catch, swing the bat & stretch).
Prepare for cold weather; bring batting gloves so hands stay warm, and dress in layers.
When you arrive, ask your child to watch the other kids go through the process so they learn by watching.
MAKE-UP DATE:
If you cannot attend Saturday’s evaluation please email [email protected] or respond to this email ASAP.
Evaluations are mandatory and we need to know if you will not be there.
No makeup date has been assigned yet. We will let families know as soon as divisional heads and coaches have a good idea of how many players in their division can not/do not attend the scheduled evaluation day.
MORE NOTES:
Big change:
There is no arrival time/window by last name.
Come any time between 9am-3pm
Coaches and Volunteers will be at the fields until the last player arrives, and will remain at the field until the last player is evaluated.
The [email protected] email inbox will be monitored during evaluations for unexpected delays/communication if you need to get ahold of someone the day-of.

*Important info for MINORS 11 & MAJORS Divisions only*
**Please Read if your player is Age 11 or 12**
All 12yo’s are required to try-out for the Majors Division on Bishop Field.
For the Spring 2026 season, there may be some 11yo's drafted into the Majors Division. To be considered eligible for the Majors draft as an 11yo, you must be evaluated for the Majors on Bishop Field AFTER you complete your Minors evaluation on Kocurek.
For clarity, 11yo's that elect to try-out for Majors will be evaluated twice: once for the Minors on Kocurek Field and then a second time for Majors on Bishop Field (next to Kocurek Field). Majors Division evaluations are more difficult than Minors Division evaluations.
Please note: If your 11yo elects to try-out for the Majors Division there is no guarantee they will be drafted to the Majors Division.
