Spring 2010
All 11 & 12 year olds will play in the Majors, either in the National or American League1. Players must live within the
boundaries of Western Hills Little League to participate in either of these two leagues.
All of our teams meet four times nearly every week for either practices or games beginning as soon as teams are selected in mid-February. The teams will begin practicing around February
21st, and the season will start as soon as Spring Break is over. The season will consist of 14 regular season games and a post-season double elimination tournament of two to six games. The season will conclude in late May.
In order to play in the National League, a player MUST participate in the tryout. After tryouts
all players will be drafted onto either a National League
or American League team. Each of the National League
teams will have 11 players, at least three of whom must be 11 years old. It is strongly encouraged
that any youngster who plans to play in another competitive youth sport that is still playing after the middle of March, not participate in the National League. If a parent does not feel that Major National League is appropriate
for their child, they should please indicate their preference on the registration form.
In June, Western Hills National and American will each enter teams in the double-elimination City Tournament, which will run from approximately Memorial Day through about
the end of June.
In addition, the National League will enter one team in the National Little League Williamsport Tournament
and one team in the 10/11 State Little
League Tournament. Play begins around July 1st, and generally our teams are still playing through most of the month of July. Practice for the July
tournament starts on June 15th, and players who want to participate in this tournament should plan their summers such that they will be available without vacation or summer camp interruptions from June 15th through the end of July. Players are selected for the tournament
teams based upon their availability as well as their baseball skills.
